October 4, 1989 Park Board Minutes <br />6 <br />Johnson said he would recommend for the next phase that the <br />Council direct the Park Board and Task Force to join <br />together. <br />Anderson. said maybe break into sub-committees. <br />Johnson stated that the more knowledge that gets out to the <br />public the better. Also input to the architects is very <br />important. Really feel the two groups should join. Johnson <br />said that he can't get all the information out himself. <br />There is a lot of talent in this group. <br />Rose asked if the minutes from the Task Force meetings could <br />be sent to the Park Board. <br />Anderson said he believes they had been when they were still <br />meeting. <br />Gunderman said people are needed who will be there. <br />Johnson said it is a short range commitment, we need the <br />Park Board's involvement. <br />Van Hatten said the Park Board usually comes with a <br />concensus and recommendation. <br />Anderson said the Task Force also functions that way. <br />MOTION BY VAN HATTEN, SECONDED BY CARLSON, THAT THE PARK <br />BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT THE COUNCIL APPOINT THE PARK BOARD AND <br />THE COMMUNITY CENTER TASK FORCE TO SERVE JOINTI,Y.AS A REVIEW <br />AND COMMENT BODY ON THE FIRST PHASE OF THE COMMUNITY CENTER <br />DEVELOPMENT. MOTION CARRIED. <br />Johnson stated that many things have come up relating to <br />parks and the community center. Any questions? <br />Gunderman stated that New Brighton will be featured in the <br />"Northern Light". <br />Johnson stated they did a nice job. <br />V. New Business <br />A. Picnic Shelter - Hansen Park <br />Anderson stated that $10,000 has been donated for a picnic <br />shelter. The soils are bad. It would cost between $300,000 <br />and $500,000 to correct the soil. There will be no covered <br />shelter for the hockey rinks. <br />
