AUGUST 2, 1989 PARK BOARD MINUTES
Olson commented that people
other shopping centers such
a great corner; it is busy.
Ocel said she could underst~
store on the corner but why
Lake Road.
5
come from all over to shop. Also
as Lund's are not convenient. It is
What else can you put there?
end why you would want to put. the
not put-the townhouses along Silver
Olson said he can't do it.
Seward said 300 cars going in and out of two entrances is a lot.
Gunderman asked how much of the pond is needed for water
storage.
Olson said it hasn't. been engineered yet - it may have to be
bigger.
Seward asked if there will be a storage tank for drinking water.
Olson said there would be one.
Johnson asked what the price of the homes would be.
Olson said about $200,000-$225,000.
Gunderman asked what-would be done if the Park Board chose the
money over the land.
Johnson stated that the land being offered for the park is not
conducive to the existing park.
Olson-said if 3 acres were taken away - the development couldn't
be done.
Johnson said full use of land has always been the Park Board's
policy.
Anderson said we take land that we .have alternatives with.
Don't want the portion with water - it is a liability. The area
is tight for your development but feel the residents would be
better served by other land.
Johnson said the land you are dedicating as park land is not
ideal for a park.
Olson said that this is a first - didn't think you would be
opposed to getting land with water.
Johnson suggested taking the park dedication money and applying
it to the community center.
Anderson said his suggestion would be to take two acres south of
the park and take the rest in cash.
