October 5, 19.88 Park-Board Minutes
3
Ander on said that next summer. Long Lake Road will be redone
so his project will work out well with that. A path coming
in from the east to Long Lake -Park will be put in
approximately the same time.
Johnson said that earlier it had .been discus ed that the
foundation for the trail would go in this fall and completion
of .the trail would be after the Long Lake Rd. is redone.
Anderson said he doesn't think it will happen. The property
had to be resurveyed because of map discrepancies. Also the
Council has not approved the. church easement yet. -The trail
construction will probably take place in 1989.
Brandt inquired about the church's concern that snowmobiles
would not be allowed to go on the trail. Ander-son said he
told-them to leave it as is until it becomes a problem. If a
problem develops then posts., with a chain and lock, could be
put in. Snowmobiles have not been a real problem in the past
few years in New Brighton.
Ken Johnson asked if the residents had any questions.
Jerry Meyer, 1281 Pike Lake Dr., Asked the cost of moving the
driveway.
Anderson said the preliminary estimate was $6.,00.0 to move the
driveway.
-Meyer asked if the City obtains the property along the-wall
will the wall be repainted?
Anderson said no. It is DOT's responsibility not the City's..
We don't own the wall.
Meyer asked what the cost of the survey was..
Anderson-said the estimate was about $1,500.00
Meyer stated that a barrier-was suggested to keep snowmobile
and ATV traffic-off the trail but .couldn't they go around the
posts? Would a fence be necessary?
Anderson said a fence could be put in if it was necessary but
usually posts do the trick. Ramsey County has put barriers in
and have had good success without fencing.
Meyer said most of the property belongs to the DOT who owns
the rest?
Anderson-said the DOT, City and Church all own property.
Henry Larson, 1267 Pike Lake Dr., asked how the trail would
match up with the pedestrian crossing installed after Long
Lake Road is redone.
