June 1, 1988 Park Board Minutes
3
Johnson said they want to grade and keep the area at
Innsbruck sloped, so there will be natural drainage away
from north where residents have a concern.
Olson would like to hear Anderson's concerns
Anderson said he liked the plan but was concerned about the
drainage issue. The estimate for drainage at Freedom was
$50,000. When the costs came in it was $200,000. $85,000
might be saved by doing taking care of the water storage
problem at Innsbruck instead of at Freedom Park.
Anderson asked Johnson what the next step is.
Johnson said that the preliminary plat approval is the next
step. The goal is to move forward with the preliminary plat
approval, to do the grading and have home sites yet this
year. The feed back from the City Council and Planning
Commission is to work in two stages.
Seward asked if you will be creating a holding area on
Innsbruck Park.
Anderson said he prefers to have the water storage at
Innsbruck. The issue has to be resolved but it is not a
Park Board issue. The Park Board should express concern
about the water storage issue in the motion.
Anderson said he is not certain whether he wants the
northeast portion park because it is only swamp.
Johnson said it is 1.9 acres that could be cleared out and
made park.
Olson asked who owned the property east of the park.
Johnson said he was not sure, maybe a holding company.
Van Hatten asked why it wasn't part of this development.
Johnson said he didn't know.
Seward asked if Anderson desired that the Park Board approve
the plan without the northeast corner considered park.
Anderson said it is not a major issue. Only concerned
because of the drainage issue.
Anderson asked Johnson if there is potential for water
storage to the south.
