June 1, 1988 Park Board Minutes
5
Anderson said there were a few parks that were fenced before
I came.
Anderson said that most of the park residents have not
installed fences.
Ken Johnson said some homes along the golf course have
fences. Would the park board want to state no fences?
Van Hatten felt it was not necessary.
VI.
Old Business
A. Pike Lake Trail
Eichers said he feels Anderson is correct in saying that
once the trail is in there will not be any opposition.
Brandt asked if the trail would be 10 feet.
Anderson said 8 feet, he may have said 8-10 feet earlier.
Anderson said he met with the church and they decided to put
the trail on the south side of the church. It would be.
between their driveway and the church. Will be able to
cross just about at the light.
If the trail goes up to Pike Lake Circle, it is 150' from
the light. It could be dangerous because kids may not use
the light.
Rose asked if the aglime trail at Hansen will be
blacktopped.
Anderson said no.
Johnson asked if anyone heard the Pike Lake residents say
they did not want the trail at the last Park Board meeting.
Anderson said he thought he heard Dietmar Rose say that he
took a poll and 100% of the people were opposed to the
trail.
Johnson said they asked about alternatives. Now we have
alternatives, a choice between two different trails, or park
or no park.
Anderson said it is hard to take these comments seriously
when they are not the majority of city residents.
