May 4, 1988 Park Board Minutes
What are the legal liabilities of residents for
injuries incurred by non-residents who would have to
cross private properties to use the water?
They could cross from Palmer's property.
Dietmar Rose said the lake is shallow so swimmers have
to go out quite a way before they can swim.
Anderson said the problem should be mitigated by this
project not made worse.
What are the projected costs of the proposed project
and who really pays for the development - do Pike Lake
residents pay a larger portion of the cost?
Anderson said the project will cost about $15,000.
People with larger homes will pay more because they pay
more in taxes.
If the trail were to be developed, what influence do we
have on the design of the project?
That's why you are here. The Park Board, City Council
and staff work with residents.
Anderson said I work for you people. If there is a
trail there we try to come up with something you will
like. If there is a problem, call me. We are
responsive. You can have a lot of influence.
What other alternatives and their costs and benefits
have been considered?
There have been no surveys or sophisticated studies on
this project.
When will the final decision be made?
In about 2 months, late June or early July. The
project itself will probably take 3 days to a week to
complete. Planting, signs, etc. would be done by our
city forces next spring.
Jerry Meyer, 1281 Pike Lake Dr., said it is good this
project would be done in the fall, didn't want it done
in the spring..
