May 4, 1988 Park Board Minutes
3
Anderson said in 1989 Long Lake Road will be updated and
lighting is planned for that intersection as part of the
Long Lake Road update.
Johnson said it will be a 4 lane bridge.
A resident asked if there would be a trail into the park
from the east.
Anderson said yes.
A resident asked if there is a walk signal at the Silver
Lake Road and 694 stoplight.
Anderson responded no.
The same resident asked why this light would be
different.
Anderson said it will be specifically for walking. The
only other crossing would be from Mississippi.
R. Kannankutty, 1156 Pike Lake Circle, asked what is the
demand for this trail? There should have been some
studies as to who will be using this trail and how many.
What are the benefits and effects. What is the demand?
Have easements been obtained from the state and other
property owners?
A resident said this changes the environment. A study
should have been done. There should have been a demand
or a need to prove this project is needed.
Anderson said the state has turned back similar land
title to the city, the state did not want it. Don't
think it will be a problem getting an easement from the
state.
Anderson said he didn't have. the foggiest idea what the
level of use would be on the trail. No study has been
done. Studies are not normally done on projects of
$15,000. Just wanted to get people safely from the west
side of Long Lake Road to the east side into the park.
