February 10, 1988 Park Board Minutes Page 5
A resident asked what will happen to the cat tail swamp.
Anderson said it will be gone.
Anderson said that changes can be made. If we find the
lights don't work as well as anticipated, we don't have to
play until 11pm. Hopefully this is a well designed project
because of all the input from various sources so we won't
have any major changes but changes can be made if necessary.
A resident noted that one of the light posts looks very close
to the end of the sliding hill.
Anderson said the post could be padded or we could build a
mound of dirt around the pole. The pole may not be in that
exact location so it may not be a problem.
Brandt asked if the final pole placement would be known when
this comes before the council.
Anderson said yes.
Anderson said this lighting project is less expensive than.
what was done at Irondale.
Anderson said he would like to have a motion from the Park
Board regarding this project at Freedom.
MOTION BY VAN HATTEN, SECONDED BY SEWARD, TO ACCEPT THE
CONCEPT AND PLAN FOR FREEDOM PARK AS SHOWN. MOTION CARRIED.
Van Hatten commented how great it was that the .residents that
were present were so optimistic and worked well with the
city. He complimented Maurie for doing a good job.
Johnson said he spoke with Trish Blomquist who informed him
that Christ the King may put in a broomball rink. The church
is wondering if the city is willing to flood and to help with
materials.
Anderson said we would have to have an agreement with them
and the broomball rink would have to be open to the public a
certain amount of time. The church has bent over backward to
work with us. We would certainly be willing to work with
them.
