January 6, 1988 Park Board Minutes
Page 6
Olson asked Anderson if the development of the lots would
lock us into anything detrimental to the recreational
area.
Briggs said the 15 lots are pretty well set. Anything
that is done would have to be done south of the lots.
Anderson said there is no interest in putting anything in
the area of the 15 lots but the concern is that you don't
go any farther.
Williams asked if the intent of the motion was the
development just the northern tier.
Van Hatten said yes.
Briggs said that the right of ways are 60 feet so there
is room for sidewalks if they are .wanted.
Carlson said he feels like we would be building a
private.,, land-locked park. If the park were built in the
corner by the pond it would serve other residents and
would serve as a green exit. If you go ahead with the
motion, you are eliminating the possibility of a green
exit area.
Briggs said if it turns out you want a park in that area,
.that will remain an option. We will be coming back to
the Park Board again.
Johnson thought the south end could be park because it
would serve as a buffer.
Briggs said that if the city wanted 100 of the land, that
is not a lot. Money wise it would be.
Briggs said that construction will begin in the spring
but work on planning is being done this winter also.
Johnson said we could have a 7 acre park there using the
park dedication ordinance.
MOTION CARRIED.
Johnson asked Anderson if he would be working with Briggs
and city staff on this.
Anderson said yes.
