r
a
•."
J
Memo to Maury Anderson
• March 30, 1988
Page 2
•
.Option 3
a. Swap city park land for park land on south side. Again, land
'value needs to be determined for each area.
b. Park dedication wauld be total cash.
Option 4
a. Harstad Companies would purchase city park land.
b. t~'ark dPri:ir,~tion would he rxny c:crnbi.natic>n of land on the south
side of the development and/or `cash.
Summary
Option 1 is the proposal Harstad Companies is submitting :for city
approval. They .are open for negotiating Options 3 and 4, if that
is the preferred direction of the city. Option 2 presents mayor
problems and concerns .for the developer.
Harstad Companies would rather seek Options 1, 3 or 4, or a
combination.
As we discussed, it seems the "active" elements of a neighborhood
park (i,e. playfield, tennis courts, parking,-etc.) are being
met and will be met for this development at Hidden Oaks Park and
Freedom Park. Therefore, the uniqueness of the. topography and
vegetation on the southside of this site could serve -the
trail/picnicking demands of the area.
If you have and further comments, please feel free to contact ms
at 533-5435 or 559-0561. I am looking forward to working with
you concerning this matter.
PRH:cab
cc: John Johnson - Merila & Associates, Inc.
Jeff Shopek - Merila & Associates, Inc.
Ken Briggs - Harstad Companies
CJ
