Consideration of Lease Extension with U. S. Postal Service. <br />Report No. 07 -147. Resolution 07 -060. <br />Assistant Director of Community Development David Black reported the Post Office <br />opted not to renew a lease option. Mr. Black reported the City is recommending a <br />two month lease extension. Councilmember Doffing confirmed the lease end date <br />would be August 31, 2007. <br />Motion by Council Member Burg, seconded by Council Member Hoffman to waive <br />the reading and approve the attached resolution extending the lease to the U. S. <br />ostal Service for the property at 1255 Old Highway 8 NW until August 31, 2007. <br />Ayes - 0 Nays, Motion Carried <br />Approval of mitigation plan and provisional license for Timber Crest. <br />Report No. 07 -148. <br />City Manager Dean Lotter reported the property owner has submitted a mitigation <br />plan and satisfied an outstanding utility bill. Councilmember Doffing questioned the <br />amount of the delinquent utility bill: Mr. Lotter reported it was $41,000 plus late fees. <br />Director of Public Safety, Bob Jacobson outlined the requirements for provisional <br />licensing. The property owners have indicated that sale of the property is pending. <br />The calls for service have slightly improved, however January through June 2007, <br />there were 36 calls, with only 34 being allowed. <br />Councilmember Hoffman questioned if the provisional license transfers to any fixture <br />owners. Director Jacobson explained the provisional license is attached to the <br />property; not the owner. Councilmember Doffing questioned Mr. Khan's procedures <br />for conducting background checks. Mr Khan replied he conducts background <br />t i <br />ecks himself, through Hennepin County. Each of the Councilmembers expressed <br />eat disappointment with the efforts displayed thus far by Mr. Kahn. <br />rector Jacobson stated that if the mitigation is followed, improvements will be seen. <br />rector Jacobson is hopeful to work with the property owner to make this a better <br />property, and get Timber Crest back to some normalcy. Councilmember Hoffman <br />and Doffing made suggestions for inclusions to the mitigation plan. Mr. Khan agreed <br />he would produce requested documentation by Wednesday, June 20, 2007. <br />2.
