Page 4
Also, there were priorities for Ramsey County roads: Construct pedestrian
crossings over 35W at HWY 96 and County Rd E2, construct a trail from Long
Lake Regional Park train depot to Old HWY 8, create a more pedestrian-friendly
intersection at County Road H2.
Commissioner Norton emphasized that they would like as much input from the
community as possible.
Breuer also mentioned the Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission
received an award for all their work on a project completed in 2006. The award
was submitted by Jason West, Assistant Parks and Recreation Director and it was
for the Strategic Trails Plan. The awards committee is Minnesota Recreation and
Parks Association. They field all kinds of nominations and then they choose those
that are most deserving. They came to the Council meeting and presented the
Commission with a nice plaque which will be hung at the Family Service Center.
Each member involved also received a certificate which the Mayor presented to
them.
Char Samuelson mentioned that we love our dogs in New Brighton. A lot of us
go to Hansen Park to walk our dogs. She was there on Sunday night and saw five
different areas where she saw "puppy poop" that had not been cleaned up. If you
walk your dog, please clean up after it. Also, another area that goes along with
this; dogs need to be leashed. If you see a dog unleashed, please call the Public
Safety Dept.
Breuer stated she will look at the park signage to make sure it is adequate. She
also stated that City Ordinance states that dogs do need to be on a leash in the
park.
IX.
