<br />Vote on Section 2 as amended. <br />l aye - 4 nayes (Senden, Janecek, Blomquist, Benke) - failed <br />Vote on main motion as amended. <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes carried <br />Mayor Senden declared a 5 minute recess. <br />Mr. Maurice Anderson, Director of Park and Rec- Ramsey <br />reation reviewed Park Board action in regard to County Trail <br />a Ramsey County Trail Route from Stinson Blvd. 79-393 <br />to Long Lake <br />- Mr. Ken Simons, Ramsey Co... 7 Jaen Space Landscape Architect, <br />reviewed the four options that were considered at the recent <br />Park Board meeting. <br />Ms. Clara Sanke, 1210 Knoi-Lwood Drive, noted for the.record <br />that the railroad easement was actually 50 feet on either <br />side of the tracks. <br />Mr. Charles Var.Zandt,2643 Valley View Lane, stated that he was <br />concerned for vandalism along the proposed trail route and <br />for the potential need for additional police patrols. <br />Mr. Gordon Stevens, 2515 Knollwood Drive expressed his concern <br />for trail security. <br />Mr. Pat Cobb, 1700 19A Street NW, stated that he was opposed <br />to any trail route using the Rice Creek bed and that he also <br />questioned the general purpose for any trail route from Fridley <br />to the Long Lake regional park. <br />Mr. Curt Walther, 2548 Valley View Lane, stated that he was <br />opposed to the trail route along Mississippi Street and that <br />he.was in favor of an all purpose trail route using the railroad <br />easement. <br />Ms. Ann Skogstrom, 2837 Valley View Lane questioned the need <br />fora trail. <br />Mr. Bob Nethercut, Director of Parks and Open Space of the <br />Metropolitan Council, indicated that the reason for the trail <br />route was to provide for lateral extensions of recreational <br />experiences. <br />Mr. Merwin Alferness, 2316 Rainbow Avenue, questioned how the <br />trail along the railroad right-of-way could be controlled so <br />as to limit access to hikers, bikers, and cross-country skiers. <br />Ms.-Mary D,7rr.Ditsch questioned how Mississippi. Street could be <br />made safe and attractive for pedestrians
