.(a) Presently there are two driveways within <br />50 feet of the corner, a violation of the <br />City Zoning Regulations We indicated that <br />we will remove one driveway completely. <br />Mr.. Johnson explained to Council that the <br />other driveway, between 46 and 47 feet from <br />the corner, infringed upon the 50 foot re- <br />quirement by only 3 to 4 feet and was, therefore, <br />only a minor violation: <br />(b) We will place concrete curbing -around the <br />entire interior perimeter of the service <br />station to enhance its aesthetics as required. <br />(c) We will improve and increase landscaping on <br />the property through the extensive use of <br />shubbery. <br />At that point in our presentation Mayor Bromander <br />asked if Falcon Oil would be willing to eliminate the noncon- <br />formities of its advertising sign in order to enhance the visual <br />aesthetics of the neighborhood. We replied that although we <br />do not find the sign to be in any way offensive, we would con- <br />sider his request. <br />After considering the. Mayor's request, we are pleased <br />to notify you that we are willing to eliminate the flashing lights <br />from our advertising sign if our variance request is granted. <br />We explained that we were under an immediate and <br />definite hardship because the custom-made canopy had already <br />been purchased and delivered to the service station. We ack- <br />nowledged that this purchase was imprudent because we had not <br />obtained the necessary approval from the zoning authorities before <br />ordering the custom-made canopy, <br />_ <br />2 <br />
