-2 -
Also enclosed you will find three copies of an agreement between
the City and the County for this signal installation. This agreement
is the same as the one previously approved for the intersection of
14th St. NW and Silver Lake Road except that item 3 in this agreement
now provides that the City (previously the County) shall install or
cause the installation of an adequate power supply to the service
pole including any necessary extensions of power lines. I questioned.
the County about this and I was told that this has been a standard
part of their agreement for some time. At the intersection of
5th St. NW and Silver Lake Road the power supply is there so there
is no expense involved in bringing power to this location.
The State Aid Division has reviewed these plans and there are
warrants for signals here. Both Ramsey County and the City intend
to use State Aid funds to pay for their share of this installation.
The City's share is estimated at $26,000. The Capital Improvement
Plan has $39,000 allocated for the City's share of this improvement.
I recommend approval of the plans and the agreement. If the
Council approves these plans at their Feb. 22nd meeting, Ramsey
County anticipates advertising for bids in March. Bids would be
received in April and contracts signed in May. Work would be
commenced this summer with the signals estimated to be in operation
by December, 1977. It appears that there is a long delay in the period
of time between ordering of the controller and its actual delivery.
JJK:bj
James J.
