Council Proceedings City of New Brighton Oct. 12, 1976 Councilman Werdouschegg asked whether staff had led the applicant to believe that he could proceed with sign installation. The Planner stated he had not spoken with the applicant until after the violation had occurred and was unaware of any discussion which might have occurred between the applicnnt and the building inspector. Mayor Bromander asked what the life expectancy was of the southerly billboard. Mr. Bell responded that elimination of any sign would be a hardship on the station. tvd� 5 Motion by Werdouschegg, seconded by Hardt to close hearing. 5 ayes - 0 nayes - carried Close Hearing Motion by Hardt, seconded by Fisher to approve VN -164 to allow the self -serve:sign and northerly billboard to remain subject to the following conditions: 1. That the southerly billboard (Savingest Gas Billboard) be removed in six months. 2. That the remaining signs on the property be brought into conformance within 5 years. 3. That the applicant present in writing to the City an agreement to accept and comply with tYe variance conditions. Motion by Senden, seconded by Werdouschegg to amend the motion by requiring that both billboards be removed. 2 ayes - 3 nayes (Fisher, Bromander, Hardt) - motion failed Motion by Fisher, seconded by Werdouschegg to amend the main motion by requiring that the northerly billboard be ` removed within 18 months. Roll Call Vote: Fisher Aye Hardt Naye Senden Aye Bromander Naye Werdouschegg Aye Motion carried Motion by Bromander, seconded by Hardt to include in the main motion permission to install a logo in the selected signable area for the self -serve sign subject to all sign code requirements being met as to that selected signable area. 5 ayes - 0 nayes- carried
