Approved
• to adjacent cities, affected school districts, the watershed district and Ramsey County. Going
forward, staff would update the plan with any comments received between now and October. In
late October of this year, it is anticipated that the Commission and the Council would receive the
final draft. The final draft would be submitted to the Metropolitan Council in December, staff
would then address any concerns in the first part of 2009, with the plan being formally adopted
sometime in mid -2009.
Zisla inquired the future development considered when the study was completed, since the traffic
and housing numbers appear to be low. Gundlach replied that she would review the housing
section and she would also discuss the traffic numbers with the Public Works Director, since
some the traffic studies were from the 1990's. Zisla suggested that staff compare their traffic
figures to the figures that MnDOT is using for evaluating Hwy 96 and 35W. Gundlach replied
that the 2030 forecast from MnDOT did not include any improvements to Hwy 96/35W and the
Comprehensive Plan would have to be adjusted if they decide to do those improvements before
then. O'Keefe asked if it included the additional lane being added to 694 and the improved
interchange from 35W to 694. Gundlach replied the System Statement did not include those
improvements and if those improvements are planned within the next 10 years, they would not
have any impact within the City of New Brighton municipal boundary.
Motion by Baker, second by O'Keefe to CLOSE THE PUBLIC HEARING.
5 ayes, 0 nays. Gundlach replied that Champps's architect contacted her about
coming before the Commission to have their patio re -approved for the north end, as the previous
approval expired. She has also been working with Kraus -Anderson regarding the Champps
ground sign.
