-3—
Two weeks ago and last weekend, we heard full clips of ammunition in that park in
the back of our house. That's one of the reasons parents will not allow their kids to
walk through the park. You'll notice that the grass is four to five feet tall. If you are
going to have a kid abducted, what a better place for someone to hide; in the greenery
or in the tall grass. God help you if a kid gets abducted because you put this path
through. It's totally your decision to make.
• The current path is only 100 yards from the one you are planning. I don't know if
that's worth the sixty some thousand dollars you are going to spend. The current path
overlooks the lake, the proposed path will look at the back of people's houses. We
have beautiful parks, let's show them what we have. Take the current path and
upgrade it a little. Spend some of the money you will spend on this other path. Let
them look at the beautiful park instead of the back end of people's houses. The back
end of people's house that Perry is concerned about. People walking through and
doing damage to people's houses. The people that live on the lake and the park, love
this and try to make the park better and try to work with people from the City. We are
trying to tell you, it is not safe. OIC?
• The park has been poorly maintained. How can they expect that the new path will be
any better maintained? Some have mentioned flooding. Those ball fields get flooded
every year which is right where that walking path will be. There is a management
theory called management by walking around. It means, if you have a problem, you
walk around and talk to the people involved. Find out from the people who do the
work what the problem is. He and his wife created a map and passed it around the
neighborhood. They walked the path which took about an hour of their time. First of
all, what is wrong with the current path? If you updated the current path, we would all
support you and come out and help you. There is a walkway that has not been touched
in years. Many of us have repaired it. I know I have. I have weed whipped in the park,
so people walking through the park would see the lake. Guess what, people stop and
watch the lake. We'd love to continue to work with the City. There is a Tom Sawyer
raft right by that island. A couple of kids put it together. What you are doing is
moving the path a long ways away.
• Currently we have issues of people walking through our yards. It's not going to get
any better. Hearing those people empty a couple clips the other day, surely doesn't
make us feel any better. Perry is concerned about dogs; we are too. I don't know what
is going to be done about this. The path between A & B option. In the Option B goes
around the area, but several times a year we have lawnmowers stuck by the City.
Don't put a path right in back of our house and spite us and make us put up fences
and what not to keep people out of our yards. We want everyone to enjoy the park.
There is a tree in the corner, a big tree that the path goes around, it is trimmed every
year. Is it trimmed by someone in the City? No. One of the residents trims that tree
because he loves the park too.
• We are going to talk about the ball field. Mr. Guldan said he was a little league coach.
One of the reasons we do not have adults playing there is because when you get
outside the infield, it is so boggy. If you move the field at all, it is an unplayable ball
field.
• We love to have kids playing in the park, what you are going to do, is your going to
ruin the ball field. When you cross the bridge you will find a floating walkway (very
low construction cost). That would work perfectly where the path is right now. We
saw a kid riding his bike across it today. That won't be possible in December, because
typically that path is not plowed until there is 2 feet of snow. It will get blown once or
