Call to Order <br />II. <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Frischman. <br />Roll Call <br />Members Present: Commissioners Frischman; Harreld; Heinrich; Norton; Samuelson; <br />Trevorrow; Director of Parks and Recreation Sandy Breuer; Office Assistant, Jodelle Olson <br />Also present: Recreation Supervisor, Brad Martens; Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation, <br />Jason West; Parks Maintenance Manager, Chris Wolla; City Forester, Rick Wriskey and Director <br />of Public Works, Grant Wyffels <br />Members Absent: Commissioners Budzynski and Meyer; Council Liaison Bauman <br />Minutes of June 4, 2008 <br />MOTION BY DON HEINRICH, SECONDED BY CHAR SAMUELSON, TO APPROVE THE <br />JUNE 4, 2008 MINUTES AS SUBMITTED. MOTION CARRIED. <br />Correspondence <br />Council Report — Council Member Gina Bauman <br />No report given. <br />Public Hearing <br />A. Safe Routes to School Grant / Hansen Park Trail <br />Chair Frischman stated a power point presentation will be given by Brad Martens, <br />Parks and Recreation staff member. He is also one of the staff members who <br />applied for this grant. <br />Brad Marten, Recreation Supervisor, gave a presentation including the history, the <br />focus, project sites, the process, park impacts, trail costs, construction goals and <br />the next steps. The Trails Committee recommended the following: <br />• <br />• <br />Trail option B <br />Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission make a formal <br />recommendation to City Council adopting trail option `B" as <br />presented by staff. <br />MOTION BY DON HEINRICH, SECONDED BY JOEL NORTON, TO OPEN <br />PROJECT 08-7 SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL TRAILS TO THE PUBLIC. MOTION <br />CARRIED. <br />Perry Martin, 527-17`x' Ave NW <br />• Wondered why the path had to be moved; why couldn't it be upgraded? <br />• What are the advantages of moving it? <br />• Letting the existing path go back to nature will move all the dogs to his (and his <br />neighbor's) back yard. There are a lot of people who walk their dogs back there. <br />
