Director of Community Development Grant Femelius explained a final purchase and exchange agreement has not been reached yet, it is planned to be brought before the council January 13, 2009. An interim Right of Entry Agreement allowing the railroad to relocate the Butchers Spur to the exchange parcel until December 312008 was tied into the purchase and exchange agreement. Because the purchase and exchange agreement is not complete, it is necessary to extend the Right of Entry Agreement through February 12009. Also reported was the fact that financial challenges will occur because of the substantial State Budget deficit. Any necessary budget amendments would be brought before the council in early 2009. Doffing - Public Safety Commission Councilmember Doffing reported that at the recent Public Safety commission meeting Sergeant Nelson and Officer Hamdorf reported on the DUI arrests occurring in the City. Sergeant Masterman and Officer Synpniewski represented New Brighton in a recent joint effort with Ramsey County in a traffic detail project, resulting in 21 DUI arrests, 6 drug arrests, and 1 weapon recovery. Santa Cop donations were acknowledged, along with a $2,500 donation received from Business Data. Services.
