Listed below is an estimated not -to -exceed cost summary of each proposal: <br />WSB: SRF: TKDA: <br />$14,732 $24,684 $26,500 <br />Staff has reviewed the proposals and recommends using WSB & Associates and setting a not -to -exceed <br />cost for engineering services of $15,000. The increased amount [$268] will provide the City with <br />renderings and poster boards for display. <br />Explanation: The City is seeking Engineering Services involving the conceptual and detailed design of <br />pedestrian -related enhancements to Mn/DOT Bridge No. 9869, including removal of the existing chain <br />link fence, addition of a concrete curb on the east edge of the bridge, installation of new ornamental metal <br />railing at the edge of the east edge of the bridge sidewalk and on top of the concrete bridge barrier, and <br />roadway crosswalk modifications. The project area is Silver Lake Road bounded by the north and south <br />freeway ramps, primarily along the east sidewalk. Staff does not have the expertise to design projects on <br />Mn/DOT bridges. This project will be designed this winter and constructed in the spring of 2009. <br />Costs and Funding: New Brighton was awarded a Safe Routes to School (SRTS) grant which is a non- <br />matching reimbursement grant for $175,000. City Project 08-7, Safe Routes to School — Silver Lake <br />Road bridge Improvements would be funded as a part of this grant. The total project for City Project 08- <br />7, Safe Routes to School --- Silver Lake Road Bridge Improvements including engineering and <br />construction is expected to cost approximately $90,000 to $100,000. <br />Director <br />
