City of New Brighton March 8, 1983 I Motion by Harcus, seconded by Benke to continue the Public Hearing on Project 83-2 until 7:45 p.m. March 22, 1983. 3 Ayes - 0 Nayes - motion carried Mayor Harcus declared a five minute recess. City Engineer reviewed the proposed reconstruc- tion of 3rd Street S.W., Improvement Project #83-3. Mr. Dave Swenson, 1693 Third St. S.W., stated that he agreed the street needed somework but felt there was no need for additional curb work. Mr. Swenson questioned how many streemwere com- pleted last year. City Engineer stated that this is an ongoing program and that last year approximately one and a half miles of streets were reconstructed which is more than is being proposed this year. Page E!9ht Improvement project #83-3 Report #83-43 10:30-10:39 Mr. Swenson presented a letter from Raj Balasubramanian indicating his opposition to the proposed street reconstruction. Mr. Swenson stated that he was very upset with this project, that he was upset about increased taxes, increased water bills and felt the street simply did not need reconstruction. The Mayor with the consent of the city Council directed receipt of the letter from Raj Balasubramanian, 1668 Third St. S.W. I Ms. Darlene Schorn, 1764 Third St. S.W., stated she also felt the timing of this project was very bad and also stated she felt Third Street should have been upgraded when Third street west of Oakwood Drive was completed about two year ago. Motion by Harcus, seconded by Schmidt to continue the Public Hearing on Improvement Project 83-3 until 7:50 p.m., Marc~ 22, 1983. 3 - Ayes - 0 - Nayes motion carried City Engineer reviewed the proposed improvement project 83-5, sanitary sewer extention to serve 655 and 669 Old Highway #8. I There was no one present at the Public Hearing who spoke to the project #83-5.
