I 1 1 ~ City of New Brighton February 25, 1982 The City Engineer reviewed the proposed project and project costs. Improvement Project #82-11 Report No. 82-36 10:14 - 10:45 RESOLUTION #2568 Counci1member Benke asked if the sewer pipe had been oversized in anticipation of the future storm sewer improvement that could occur to the west of this drainage area. The City Engineer replied that the pipe had not been oversized but that it was adequate to accommodate the future needs. Mr. Harry Pagels, 2575 County Road H, stated that he did not feel that he was contributing to the water problem because he felt that his water actually drained to the north away from this area. Mr. Pagels stated he did not feel his assessment for over $2,000 was fair. The City Engineer replied that based on their field surveys and observation he felt that Mr. Pagels property was in the drainage area but that the actual determination of boundaries and costs could not be made until the assessment hearing which was proposed for August, 1983. Mr. Larry Foss, 2529 Eastman Drive, stated that the area had been a hazard for many years and that he was in support of this project. Mr. Foss also asked if they were getting Federal or County money that would be available. Mr. Foss stated that he felt that Silver Lake Road was contributing to the situation. The Mayor replied that there was no Federal aid possible but that the County is being assessed for the Silver Lake Road right-of-way and is being assessed at twice the rate of residential properties. Mr. Foss asked if the City had taken bids on the project. The City Engineer replied that the City would be taking bids sometime in Mayor June of this year. Mr. Foss replied that his neighbor questioned why her property was included in the assessment area. Mayor Harcus replied that the property was included because it was apparently within the property contributing to the drainage area. -12-
