I

I

I

J ':',~ ,;:,:";.'

City of New Brighton
February 25, 1982

Mr. Roger columbo, 820 Redwood Lane, stated
that he could only reiterate the concerns of
his neighbors, that he was in favor of the
project and that he just hoped that it would
work and solve their water problems for many years.

Harold Anderson, 737 Forest Dale Road, indicated
that last year when the driveways were removed
and temporarily replaced a portion of his remaining
concrete slab was cracked during the construction.

The city Engineer stated that if the damage were
in fact caused by the contractors doing the work
the contractor would be responsible.

Mrs. Christiansen asked if the width of the road
had been specified in the project.

The City Engineer stated that they will try to
obtain a standard width road 32 feet back-of-
curb to back-of-curb.

Gene Stokes asked if the existing base of the road
were adequate so as to justify the overlay project.

The City Engineer stated that the road had been
tested and found to be adequate for overlay purposes.

Lyle Hopkins, 760 Forestdale Road, asked how the
road would be widened.

The City Engineer replied that the road would be
centered on the existing road and that they
would hope to obtain a width of 32 feet but regardless
of the width they obtain it would be a uniform width
the entire roadway length.

Lyle Hopkins stated that it was his opinion that the
road widening improvements are a result of the increased
traffic from development around this area particularly
from Innsbruck East and the United Theological Seminary
developments.

Harold Anderson, 737 Forest Dale Road, stated that he
also felt that the residents had not been told the
truth many years ago when the area was first
developed.

Gene Stokes stated that he agreed that the concrete
curb and gutter are better but would the Council
agree to a cost split on the concrete curbing of
a 75% - 25% rather than a 50% - 50% split as proposed.
Mr. Stokes stated that he felt that since this was
the second time that curbing had been installed that
perhaps the city would be justified in paying a higher
portion of the cost.

_'7_
