I I I December 9, 1980 Mr. Leslie Proper Director 8f public Works City of New Brighton 803 5th Avenue N.W. lie: Traffic Oontrol on Stinson Boulevard Dear Mr. Proper: I recently attended a meeting of the Columbia Heights City Council to express the traffic safety aspects caused by the stop sign on Stinson Boulevard at lnnsbruck ~arkway. The council stated she reason for the stop sign ~aB to provide an interruption in traffic so that: 1.) exit freely from Innsbruck ~arkway onto Stinson Traffic could Boulevard. 2.) Oars can back out of driveways facing Stinson Boulevard. 3.) Traffic speed on Stinson Boulevard 1s reduced. The council agreed that the stop sign was an inconvenience to traffic when the street was slippery during che hinter months. They also stated that some means of traffic control was necessary for Stinson Boulev3rd if the stop sisn was removed. They expressed a desire to obtain cooperation from the City of New Brighton to obtain this means. A motion \~as made to remove the ;;;top sign until April, 1981 ;3.ud::'l.t that time tne traffic situation on Stinson Boulevard wuuld be re- viewed and the stop sign reconsidered. I feel it is necessary that the City )f New Brighton cooperate with the city of Columbia Heights for traffic control on Stinson Boulevard to prevent this situation from repeating itself again next s,ring. Is it feasible to obtain another source opinion on this traffic situation from a third party possibly county or state personnel? I am requesting that the stop sign at Inns~ruck Parkway on Stinson Boulevard oe placed on the age~da of the City of New Brighton Oouncil meeting on DecemDer 23, 1981. I will attend this meeting and be available for any discussion on this subject. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
