<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />City of New Brighton <br />September 23, 1980 <br /> <br />The Mayor expressed concern with the location <br />of the proposed parking lot, suggested an <br />alternative parking plan which would provide <br />better access to facilities. He also suggested <br />that active facilities are all concentrated <br />in a small area of the park. <br /> <br />Councilmember Benke expressed general approval <br />of the plan. lIe stated he was in favor of the <br />single entrance. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schmidt requested additional staff <br />explanation regarding possible park entrance <br />alternatives. <br /> <br />Councilmember Janecek expressed some concern with <br />the location of the proposed parking lot. She <br />stated she is in favor of one (1) entrancel that <br />it should be widened and expressed general approval <br />of the proposed plan. <br /> <br />Mr. Kenneth Partyka, 1743 Sioux Boulevard, expressed <br />general agreement with the proposed park plan. <br /> <br />Evelyn Murlowski, 1897 Sioux Boulevard, requested <br />information regarding the costs associated with <br />the proposed improvements. Staff responded that <br />the estimated cost was $185,000. <br /> <br />Mark Ebsen, 1701 3rd Street NW, questioned why <br />the entrance could not be built according to <br />standard ingress-egress driveway standards. <br />He suggested professional park planners should <br />have designed the park or at least be consulted. <br /> <br />Carol Sylvester, 1619 5th Street NW, stated <br />her observation at Park Board meetings was <br />that they have utilized whatever professional <br />advice and citizen input available and are <br />to be commended for this plan. <br /> <br />John SChultz, 647 12th Avenue NW spoke in <br />favor of the proposed plan. lIe suggested <br />that Hansen Park should never have been <br />developed because of its soil structure <br />but should have been left in its natural <br />s ta te . <br /> <br />Larry Pratt, 555 l3th Avenue NW, expressed <br />approval of the plan and suggested a wooden <br />deck path be added to provide safety for <br />skaters walking to the skating area. <br /> <br />-4- <br />
