-2- <br />• Burg stated she is Cable Commission liaison. The City receives 5% of the <br />revenue and we are able to offer different benefits to the City. She wanted <br />everyone to know that anyone in New Brighton is able to access the New <br />Brighton's cable channel for free. <br />• Saturday, May 2 is the Town Hall meeting. <br />Frischman asked if the Council discussed the issue of how many members are on the <br />commissions. Burg stated they did have this discussion at the last work session and the decision <br />made was 7 members on the commissions. Council can make changes every year if they desire. <br />Burg mentioned that this discussion was available by listening online. <br />V1. Public Hearing <br />A. None Scheduled <br />VII <br />Frischman, noted there will be a public hearing next month, May 6t", 6:3Q p.m. to discuss <br />resident opinions related to the skate board park at Freedom Park. <br />New Business <br />A. <br />Staff Report — Brad Martens <br />Director Breuer introduced Brad Martens who has been with the City nearly 4 <br />years. Martens gave his presentation on the year in review at the Family Service <br />Center and also showed what an average week at the FSC looks like. He also gave <br />updates on Safe Routes to Schools and the Trails Committee. <br />Director Breuer commented that Martens is responsible for the week of cleaning <br />that takes place every year at the FSC. She stated there is a lot of work with <br />contractors and: she didn't want this to go unmentioned. <br />B. Staff Report - Patrice Atkinson <br />Director Breuer introduced Patrice Atkinson who has been with the Department <br />almost 10 years. Atkinson gave a presentation on Fitness and Wellness. <br />There was interest in keeping ping pong going and possibly running tournaments. <br />Atkinson stated she wanted to pursue this. <br />Breuer commented that Atkinson was responsible for the new fitness equipment <br />that went in a year ago. There was a lot of research that went into finding the right <br />equipment and the right vendor. There is new technology (tv's, etc.) which seems <br />to be bringing our members in more frequently. The fitness area seems to be <br />busier. You really need to mind your trends and know what's out there. Atkinson <br />is on the edge with running the latest programs. <br />Burg commented that the cable program video clips the City takes part in (offered <br />through Lynn Redlinger with the Cable Company) are available to us because of <br />the revenue we receive from the Cable Company. She thanked the New Brighton <br />• Parks and Recreation Department for taking advantage of this opportunity. <br />C. Election of Chair <br />There are three people on the Commission that fit the criteria for becoming Chair. <br />They are Frischman, Heinrich and Trevorrow. <br />
