• Public Safety Commission <br />May 27, 2009 <br />Attending: Commissioner Kerns, Commissioner Allen, Commissioner <br />Bredenbeck, Commissioner Kelly, Commissioner Schumann, <br />Commissioner Tollefson, Commissioner Woods, Mayor Larson, <br />Director Jacobson, Officer Ed Sypniewski and Officer Mike <br />Huddle, St. Anthony Police Department <br />Citizens: Long Nguyen <br />Absent: Commissioner Elwell, Student Commissioner Ngang <br />Roll Call/Call to Order <br />Commissioner Kerns called the meeting to order at 6:32 pm. <br />April Meeting Minutes <br />The April meeting minutes were reviewed, Commissioner Tollefson motioned to accept <br />. the minutes; Commissioner Allen seconded. ,Motion `carried. <br />Public Hearing / Presentations <br />Officer Ed Sypniewski — East Metro SWAT Team <br />Officer Ed Sypniewski gave a brief background on the East Metro SWAT Team which <br />consists of officers from the following departments: Roseville, St. Anthony, New <br />Brighton, North St. ;Paul and the newest member is the U of M St. Paul Campus. Officer <br />Sypniewski handed out information regarding situations where SWAT can be called out. <br />He also showed a video of the SWAT Team training. <br />Officer Mike Huddle, St. Anthony Police Department, brought the ballistic shield that <br />was used when the SWAT Team performed a high risk search warrant in Roseville and <br />were fired upon. The ballistic shield took two direct hits. <br />Officer Sypniewski showed off the SWAT vehicle and the SWAT equipment lockers for <br />the New Brighton officers who are part of the SWAT Team. <br />Updates <br />CERT/Citizen Corps Council <br />Nothing to report. <br />0 <br />
