Page 3 <br />The MPCA is the administrator for this Federal mandated program. There are <br />about 20 different programs and about 6 major control measures. <br />The City's webpage has been changed to promote ways to have cleaner <br />stormwater. The main way is to reduce volume, so the rain water will not pick up <br />as much pollution. There is information about rain gardens on our website. There <br />may be credits for those that put in rain gardens. There is also information on <br />how we have changed the code to include credits for people who put in rain <br />gardens. <br />There are three proposed changes to SWPPP. <br />1, Coordination of Educational Programs. <br />2. Changing Request Partners to the Work Orders data base:' <br />3. Changing the Name of the Status of Treatment for Stormwater to <br />GIS Map of the Watersheds and BMPs. <br />Thorne stated that New Brighton's biggest issue with water quality is the same as <br />the entire metro which is too much nitrogen and phosphorous causing lakes to <br />turn green when temperatures get warm. We don't know all the mechanics of <br />what causes all of this but we do know that some of the large sources are <br />fertilizer. Pet waste is another source. Leaves in the street now get into the rain <br />gutters. We have to find a way to keep the leaves from getting in there. Car <br />exhaust has nitrogen in it and can get into the soil. Staff Report — Jenna Hyovalti <br />Breuer stated Jenna Hyovalti is the Recreation Coordinator for the City. Jenna <br />0 gave a presentation on the Eagles Nest from January — April, 2009 and compared <br />numbers with the same months in 2008. <br />Jenna stated Shoreview's indoor playground opened on May 14th. It is a little early <br />to tell if it will impact us. We have had a few customers state to us that our <br />packages work better for them and they would rather book their party through us. <br />
