Work Session Memo
February 5, 2010
• Page 3
there is a strong possibility that Ashland's clean-up will be sufficient to accomplish
the City's goal of de -listing the site, which will only enhance the marketability of the
Northwest Quadrant.
Funding Suggestions
Staff would recommend that the Council focus our efforts in the following ways:
Appropriations
1) East Side Ring Road ($1.0M)
Transportation Reauthorization
The City should continue to advocate for the two projects (Old Highway 8 bridge and
Pedestrian Bridge) that were included by Congresswoman McCollum on the High
Priority Project list. It should also be noted that these same requests were submitted to
Senator Klobuchar's office, but would need to be submitted to Senator Franken's office.
It is likely that both Senators will again ask for information either before or after the mid-
term elections as they move forward on shaping their transportation authorization bill.
• We have asked Dan Fetter from Barr Engineering to attend and help answer any
questions about remediation cost estimates. In addition, LGN's email attachment
outlines some strategies that the City should consider with regard to our federal
legislative efforts.
We look forward to the discussion on Tuesday night.
Attachments
0
