Nelson inquired if commissioners could assist at all by submitting letters; Fernelius reported <br />council adopted a resolution requesting funding. <br />Northwest Quadrant Rebranding Process • <br />Fernelius reported at a recent neighborhood meeting he was asked to share the potential names <br />associated with the NWQ rebranding; however; because the council had not had a formal <br />presentation from Risdall, he opted not to do so. Councilmember Bauman supported that <br />decision for a variety of reasons. Commissioner Benke reported the Northwest Quadrant <br />received its name because it is in the northwest quadrant of 694 and 35W. <br />Presentation by Ehlers & Associates on Northwest Quadrant Financial Model <br />Rescheduled for April 20, 2010. <br />Other Topics <br />Twin Cities North Chamber of Commerce Legislative Breakfast Recap <br />Commissioner Benke provided copies of a presentation that was made last month at the Twin <br />Cities North Chamber of Commerce legislative breakfast. The presentation was made by a <br />Commissioner of MnDOT and focused on the transportation challenges in the Metro area. Benke <br />reported long term funding for the New Brighton area is likely not going to occur. In 2011 <br />MnDot is planning to replace bridges along 694 at Snelling Ave and Lexington Ave. <br />Councilmember Bauman questioned the amount of the light rail budget; Benke didn't have that <br />figure, but did report in the future, light rail could be beneficial to the north metro. <br />TCAAP Update <br />Femelius reported The City of Arden Hills is hosting a general community meeting on the future <br />of the TCAAP site on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Ramsey <br />County Public Works Facility. Commissioner Beach reported he saw the property was going to <br />auction in May. <br />Discussions Topics (Past/Future) <br />Councilmember Bauman reported Kowalskis may be building in Roseville. Commissioner <br />Benke reported years ago, a demographic study was done, and it was determined a high end <br />grocery store would not be a good fit in New Brighton. <br />Future Topics <br />Commissioner Beach suggested starting a list of possible businesses that may be interested in <br />locating in the Northwest Quadrant. Fernelius reported that may be beneficial in the future; <br />currently some of the larger developers are aware of the area. Director Fernelius stated it is his <br />hope to have some direction on the rebranding by early summer. <br />Director Fernelius reported at the recent council retreat, the decision was made not to video <br />record some of the advisory commission meetings, including the Economic Development <br />Commission meetings. <br />Adjournment <br />The meeting adjourned at 8:31 a.m. <br />is <br />
