-2-
• Trevorrow commented that the City has done a great job with EAB preparation
and being proactive.
Burg commented that the Council members are all in agreement that we need to
be on board with the Emerald Ash Borer.
Breuer stated that the EAB information will be available at the Town Hall
meeting Saturday, May 22°d, from 8am to Noon. She encouraged the Parks,
Recreation and Environmental Commission to attend and to invite neighbors to
come. Breuer stated she also has a presentation on audio if anyone would like
that.
Frischman expressed her disappointment with the Council decision not to video
tape the Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission meetings any longer
when there is no cost and it is a service to the residents. Frischman felt it
important to have the video taping especially when there are public hearings.
Harreld stated she also felt the same disappointment as Frischman
Norton commented that when public hearings are held, PREC will need to move
to another location, because the room here at the FSC is not large enough.
• Burg commented that there is an allotment of money available to the City for
video taping the meetings.
There were inquiries if there was information available on the number of people
who watch the cable channel.
Frischman said it was not about how many watch, but rather if we can make it
available to people, we should do it. The public needs to be involved and need to
hear; discussions that are taking place at our meetings. We have had many public
hearings such as Skate Board Park, Disc Golf, Safe Routes to Schools. All these
impact residents and they need to be able to be a part of that meeting if they
cannot physically get here. There is not a cost for this and this is a service that has
been taken away from New Brighton residents.
Resident Jordan Kortas commented that he found out about this meeting because
it was televised. He did not know it would not be televised this evening. He came
for the Trails Committee meeting. He stated it keeps him involved in what is
happening. As a resident, he supports it being televised.
Strub commented that he has solid disagreement on this Council decision and
asked how we can get the message out about this. Some suggestions were for the
• Commission to make a motion or to have neighbors call Council members.
