-2 - <br />After some discussion, Norton summarized PREC's desires for the geese <br />removal/mitigation as follows: <br />• November would be a good starting point for discussion and to <br />decide whether a public hearing will be held in December. Also <br />discuss whether the golf course geese removal should be a separate <br />discussion since it is an enterprise. <br />• We will bring in a person or persons with expertise in this area. <br />• We will also hear from Lisa Taft and her group on the information <br />they have gathered. <br />Resident, Lisa Taft, stated she will be willing to get the Commission written info <br />in October for the November meeting. <br />The Commission addressed the two Council members present and asked them <br />exactly what they are looking for from the Parks Recreation and Environmental <br />Commission to address this issue. <br />Council members Burg and Phillips stated they wanted the following information <br />• Why do geese need to be removed? <br />• What are the pros and cons of removing? <br />• What are the different options of removing geese? <br />• Take testimony from residents and inform Council. <br />• Attorney will help with decision on whether we can use public funds <br />for geese removal. <br />LeFevere stated that if the reason for removing geese is not a legitimate reason, <br />you will not be able to spend public funds. LeFevere recommended contacting <br />agencies such as: <br />• U.S. Fish and Wildlife <br />• Rice Creek Watershed District <br />• Pollution Control Agency <br />• State Health Department <br />• State Epidemiologist Department <br />LeFevere said answering the following two questions will help you make <br />meaningful decisions. <br />• Why do you want to remove geese? <br />• What purpose is served by doing it? <br />C. 2011 Family Service Center Membership Rates <br />Patrice Atkinson, Recreation Supervisor, gave a presentation on FSC Membership <br />Rates. Breuer asked the Commission to make a recommendation tonight which <br />would go to the Council at their next meeting on July 13th. <br />MOTION BY DON HEINRICH, SECONDED BY TOM TREVORROW, TO <br />RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF OPTION A FOR THE 2011 FAMILY <br />SERVICE CENTER MEMBERSHIP RATES. MOTION CARRIED. <br />It was noted that the increase would not be implemented until September 1, 2010. <br />
