Trails, Bike and Walk-ways—Grant Wyffels and Craig Schlichting A. City Project 08-7 Safe Routes to School update Grant Wyffels, Director of Public Works, stated this was his first time presenting to the Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission. Craig Schlichting, Civil Engineer II was also presenting. Wyffels stated there was a lot happening this year with our trails system, our non-fleet and some on-going projects such as Safe Routes to Schools. We will also talk about our annual street projects. Last Tuesday, the Council had a public hearing on the Old Hwy. 8 sidewalk(from Hilton at Hwy 96 to 14th Street). Council wanted Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission input before they closed the Public Hearing, so you will be given an update on that project and your comments will be taken before the Council next Tuesday. B. City Project 10-10, Old Highway 8 NW Sidewalk& Trail Craig Schlichting and Grant Wyfells gave a power point presentation on this project. MOTION BY JEANNE FRISCHMAN, SECONDED BY JERED WEBER, THAT THE PARKS, RECREATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL COMMISSION APPROVES OF THE OLD HIGHWAY 8 NW SIDEWALK AND TRAIL PLAN AS PRESENTED. MOTION CARRIED. C. City Project 11-1, 2011 Street Reconstruction Craig Schlichting and Grant Wyffels gave a power point presentation on this project. MOTION BY JEANNE FRISCHMAN, SECONDED BY JERED WEBER, TO RECOMMEND THAT OPTION 2 BE PURSUED WITH THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE STREET RE-CONSTRUCTION. MOTION CARRIED. D. City Project 11-3, 2011 Pavement Management Program The Pavement Program was previously listed as part of the non-fleet CIP. Wyffels stated that 90% of the pavements were not fully funded. Wyffels recommended that all the pavement projects be taken out of the non-fleet.
