Mr. Matteson briefly spoke about the recent 2CE emergency call Allina responded to in Blaine; 9 <br /> people were transported by Allina. He thinks we will see more of this. <br /> Six new EMT's started on Monday and 14 new medics will start next week. Then Allina will <br /> probably have two more rotations of hiring. <br /> Allina will be replacing all of their cardiac monitors next year; 60-70 new cardiac monitors. <br /> Call volume continues to be heavy in the NW metro. Allina will probably all 12 more hours to <br /> the NW metro area. <br /> Allina continues to look for a larger location for expansion. They have narrowed their look to <br /> two locations. <br /> Allina's south metro Savage location is in the flood area, as well as the New Ulm location. The <br /> Metro EMS Group is working on developing plans for disaster needs as well as a plan for any <br /> operation locations that may be flooded out. <br /> Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS) <br /> The VIPS held their monthly meeting last night. Commissioner Woods reported the following: <br /> a The VIPS welcomed three new members. <br /> a The VIPS will assist with the next Blood Drive scheduled for April 6th <br /> a The VIPS continue to assist with House Watch, Park Patrol, and patrol parking lots <br /> distributing a flyer to deter theft from autos. <br /> a The VIPS will help out with the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner scheduled for Sunday, May <br /> 15th. <br /> Public Safety/Homeland Security Update <br /> Ellie Fox is resigning; her last day will be Friday, April 1st. Jen Minwegen will be promoted to <br /> the Office Assistant position. The Office Technician position was posted and closed on March <br /> 25th. <br /> Our 9 new fire fighters continue to go through a lot of training. <br /> The Citizen Police Academy has been well attended with almost 40 participants. Tomorrow's <br /> topic will be the Fire Division. <br /> Officer Hamdorf held two sessions yesterday of a Fraud/Identity Theft seminar. <br /> The NOP Officers will start a new NOP-Knock Initiative where the NOP Officers will visit each <br /> household in New Brighton and distribute a newsletter and a magnet. This will start in April and <br /> continue to May and June. <br /> The City will participate in an emergency exercise on Tuesday,April 19th; this will be a tornado <br /> exercise. <br />
