Chair Elections <br /> Chair Norton stated this was his last meeting. He will be serving on a <br /> school committee for curriculum development. He did not feel he could <br /> do both PREC and the school committee; so he is resigning after today's <br /> meeting. We will need a new chair. <br /> Chair Norton noted that Commissioner Frischman was willing to be chair. <br /> MOTION BY TREVORROW, SECONDED BY JERED WEBER, TO <br /> ELECT JEANNE FRISCHMAN AS CHAIR. MOTION CARRIED. <br /> VII. Announcements <br /> A. Council Report—Council Member Phillips <br /> • In April minutes talked about the sidewalk on 8th. The Council ordered the <br /> sidewalk from 7th down to City Hall. <br /> • Pet cremation business approved. <br /> • New Brighton Estates. Ground breaking soon for 124 unit high end <br /> apartments. Construction needs to be started by June 30 or they will lose <br /> funding. <br /> There was some discussion as to whether a marked crosswalk was necessary <br /> where you come from the nursing home down toward Veterans Park. Phillips said <br /> he would e-mail Grant Wyffels about that. <br /> • Phillips stated he would like to use some of the empty space here at the <br /> Community Center for senior citizens. <br /> B. Chair Updates <br /> Norton reminded everyone of the work session following the regular PREC <br /> meeting. <br /> C. Department Happenings/upcoming events <br /> Breuer informed the Commission that Brad Martens left the City and is now a <br /> City Administrator for the City of Winsted, MN. The Department is working <br /> toward filling that position. Brad was the liaison to the library, in the interim, <br /> Jason West is filling that position. National Night Out is Tuesday, August 2nd', if <br /> you want to do a ride along. There are two all school parties here at the <br /> Community Center this year. Irondale's is Tues, June 7th and St. Anthony's is <br /> Friday, June 10th. Library groundbreaking is Tuesday, June 7, 5pm.. It will be out <br /> doors near the old playground area. <br /> Upcoming things: <br /> o National Get Outdoors Day is June 1 lth. Have a picnic, play on the <br /> playground,play tennis. <br />
