September 13,2011 Page 6 of 6 <br /> Gina Bauman <br /> Councilmember Bauman reported that the Planning Commission did not have a regular <br /> meeting in August, but did have a policy work session, the landscaping standards were <br /> reviewed. Councilmember Bauman attended the cable commission meeting; negotiations are <br /> in process with Comcast. Councilmember Bauman will be attending the NATOA <br /> conference next week. <br /> Mary Burg <br /> Councilmember Burg reported the Public Safety Commission next meets Monday, <br /> September 26. Topics include traffic and parking related items. Northwest Youth &Family <br /> Services will hold it's annual fundraiser, "2011 A Taste of Northwest" on September 29, <br /> 2011 at the Kay Andrews Event Center. <br /> Two new Police Offers will be joining the City, Scott Kingslien, and Thomas Nerrison. <br /> Congratulations were extended to the Public Safety Department, for receiving the <br /> International Association of Chiefs of Police Community Policing Award for cities the size <br /> of 20,000 to 50,000 people. This award was received in the past as well and a second <br /> recognition is admirable. <br /> David Phillips <br /> Councilmember Philips reported that he, the Mayor, Director Breuer, along with several <br /> members of the PREC commission visited and evaluated seven of the City's parks. <br /> Recommendations will be forth coming to the Council on maintaining vital parks throughout <br /> the City. <br /> Char Samuelson <br /> Councilmember Samuelson reported that the EDC next meets September 20th at 7:30 am. <br /> Mayor Jacobsen <br /> Mayor Jacobsen reported on the park tour as well, noting the use of the parks has been <br /> changing, and that council will focus on making the parks and programs more appropriate to <br /> the community's needs.
