Comments and ideas from the Commissioners are as follows:
• It appears all of the construction and road activity stops at I-35W.
• Phase 2 goes over the bridge.
• It was presumed that New Brighton boundaries ended right on I-35W.
• A recommendation should only include something right at I-35W.
• Based on the plan on the Hwy. 10/96 interchange, in 2013 Hwy. 96
will be updated. New Brighton and Arden Hills are both listed on the
update. Which probably means it would include the area over I-35W.
Ramsey County applied for federal funding for that portion.
• By what the County is showing, there will be some type of road
improvement on the section of Hwy. 96 that goes from Old Hwy. 8,
across the freeway to Hwy. 10.
• A map specified that for the surface some would be boardwalk, some
paved.
• In the Commission's previous conversation, it appeared that the walk-
way/bike-way, was going to be on the south side of Hwy. 96 until it
got to the Holiday Gas Station and then it went to the other side.
• The sidewalk is listed as a multi-use trail. Multi-use is brown,
sidewalk is pink.
• On the north end, the sidewalk ends at Round Lake Boulevard.
• A chart showed that 2013 is when they would do I-35W to Old Hwy.
• Anything west of the Holiday Station is not shown as a multi-use trail.
• The Commission could look at what we could do on the New Brighton
side and then go to Arden Hills and work together to tie them together.
The map shows the trail goes right up to the entrance and exit ramp on
the east side of I-35W. It appears that the 2013 proposal is to continue
from there to Old Hwy. 8.
• The Commission wondered why there is not a multi-use trail on the
other side of Round Lake Blvd.
• It may end before I-35W for safety reasons and when they do the other
side, they will run it all the way.
• New Brighton should do what we want to do up to I-35W and then the
County will do what they want. It looks like there are crosswalks at
Round Lake Blvd.
• The signals will be upgraded.
• It appears the road gets smaller west of Round Lake Blvd. It looks
like it is missing one or two lanes on the north side.
• There is a turn lane to go into the trailer park. It is two lanes in both
directions; with additional turn lanes. They have added a left hand turn
lane into the trailer park from the east.
• The PREC recommendation needs to start at Old Hwy. 8 going across
I-35W and connecting to whatever is happening at Round Lake Blvd.
Should it be the same material and size as they currently show on their
map?
• The Commission should look at what we are connecting to. Are we
2
