Approved
Ms. June Roberts, 1213 Highview Drive, voiced her concerns regarding the children waiting for
the school bus at the intersection of Highview/Palmer.
Mr. Lance Christie, 1973 Palmer Drive, stated he feels the key is enforcement. He doesn't feel
moving the berm will make a difference. He feels the proposed signage is good but enforcement
is the key.
Mr. Tom Oleska, 2130 Palmer Drive, stated the intersection of 13th St NW/Highview Dr needs to
be salted and sanded better and he would like to see the 90 degree arrow signs installed.
Mr. Bob Krueger, 1874 13th St NW, stated he believes the traffic volume is work traffic cutting
through. He would like to see the stop signs put back up for the traffic coming out of the
shopping center.
Ms. Naomi Duval, 1242 Robin Lane, noted a lot of pedestrian traffic in their area. She would
like to see signs put up at the back of the school noting it as a school zone. She also noted the
properties on Robin Lane are zero lot line properties.
Ms. Janet Calendar, 2036 Palmer Drive, asked that the problem from one area not be moved to
another area.
Mr. Oleska added one request; if signage prohibiting big commercial trucks could be posted.
Commissioner Kroll made a motion for the Public Safety Commission to adopt Mr. Wyffels'
recommendations 2—6 (listed above)to forward to City Council for their consideration;
Commissioner Lamp seconded. Motion carried.
Commissioner Kroll made a motion for city staff to further investigate the following:
1. School Speed Zones
2. Can the City restrict trucks on residential streets?
3. Regarding No Right Turn onto Palmer Drive, can we verify the license plates of the Spack
Study(where do they live—are they local or cut-through)?
4. Can the City lower the speed limit on Robin Lane?
5. Sidewalks—provide a diagram and feasibility of the following:
a. Connect Shopping Center to Crossroads of New Brighton Apartments
b. Connect Pike Lake Learning Center to the existing sidewalks along Palmer Drive
Commissioner Benke seconded. Motion carried.
Updates
A. Citizen Corps Council
No report.
Department Reports
A.
