Public Safety Commission <br /> January 30, 2012 APPROVED <br /> Attending: Commissioner Allen,Commissioner Benke, Commissioner Bredenbeck, <br /> Commissioner Donohue, Commissioner Hollimon, Commissioner Kroll, <br /> Commissioner Lamp,Commissioner Schumann, Commissioner Woods, <br /> Director Jacobson, Public Works Director Wyffels, and Dave Matteson— <br /> Allina Medical <br /> Absent: Council Member Burg <br /> Call to Order/Roll Call <br /> Commissioner Allen called the January meeting to order at 6:30 pm and roll call was taken. <br /> November Meeting Minutes <br /> The November meeting minutes were reviewed. Commissioner Woods motioned to accept the <br /> minutes; Commissioner Hollimon seconded. Motion carried. <br /> Public Hearing/Presentations <br /> A. Review of Palmer Drive/Robin Lane Parking and Traffic Issues <br /> Mr. Grant Wyffels, Director of Public Works, reported that the first five recommendations the <br /> Public Safety Commission forwarded to the City Council at the January 10, 2012 meeting have <br /> been implemented. These recommendations were: <br /> 1. Install no parking signs along Palmer Drive. <br /> 2. Re-stripe/Re-sign Palmer Drive to better channelize traffic before getting to Robin Lane. <br /> 3. Install a stop sign at the exit of the Brighton Village Shopping Center onto Palmer Drive. <br /> 4. Double face the signs from both approaching directions to improve crosswalk safety. <br /> This will help delineate the location of the existing crosswalks. <br /> 5. Post 10 mph advisory speed signs for the two 90 degree curves and add appropriate <br /> directional turn arrows on the north and south ends of Robin Lane. <br /> Mr. Wyffels stated that all-in-all, he has received positive feedback from the neighborhood <br /> regarding these improvements. <br /> Mr. Wyffels provided updates on the five items in the second motion. These updates are: <br /> 1. Are School Speed Zones appropriate for the backside of the former Pike Lake School'? <br /> Answer: No <br /> 2. Can the City restrict trucks on residential streets? <br /> Answer: Yes, the City could do this but Mr. Wyffels would not recommend this. <br /> 3. Regarding No Right Turns onto Palmer Drive, can we verify the license plates of the <br /> Spack Study to see if vehicles are local or cut-through traffic? <br /> Answer: No, the Spack Study cameras were not high resolution cameras that could <br /> display the license plates. Mr. Wyffels stated there is an outstanding Resolution <br />
