Silver Oaks is a newer court and does
not have any significant cracks. The quotes included two different options for repairing the cracks that
have formed on the playing surfaces. The first option is to fill all of the cracks (1,440 linear feet) with a
standard crack patch binder, but this repair will be temporary, lasting only 1-3 years. The second option
is to fill the cracks on Hansen and Freedom courts with an Armor Crack Repair system (800 linear feet),
and fill the remaining cracks (640 linear feet)at the other courts with a standard crack patch binder, since
these courts are less used. The Armor Crack Repair system is expensive, but expected to last 10 years.
Staff is recommending we accept the alternate quote to use the Armor Crack Repair system and further,
extend the use of this system to the Hidden Oaks and Totem courts as well, given the competitive pricing
provided by the contractor. This will cost an additional $8,256, but when all of the courts are finished,
they will be in an as-new condition.
It is expected the scheduled repairs will allow the courts to last until 2022 when they are scheduled for
full replacement.
Costs and Funding: The total cost of this project will be funded from Fund 606,Pavement Management
Fund, and any tree/shrub removals will be funded from Forestry General Fund.
Grant M. yffels, P. .
Director of Public Works
Attachments:
Quote Tabulations
Location Map
