Citizen Corps Council <br /> Director Jacobson noted Citizen Corps Council is 10 years old. Visit their web site at <br /> www.citizencorps.gov as there is a lot of good information there. Tornado season is approaching <br /> and now they say to stay in your car so there are new and changing recommendations so keep <br /> informed. <br /> Department Reports <br /> A. Human Rights <br /> Commissioner Kroll reported the MN League of Human Rights Commissions will meet this <br /> coming Saturday in Chaska. A verification form was sent to the City and Commissioner Kroll <br /> will complete this with the names of the Human Rights Subcommittee members. <br /> Commissioner Kroll attended a collaboration among northern Ramsey County Commissions. <br /> The Maplewood Human Rights Commission will hold a public education forum on the future of <br /> marriage in Minnesota on September 11 at the Maplewood Community Center Theater. <br /> The NBPSC Human Rights Subcommittee met on May 21 and drafted a protocol for responding <br /> to hate crimes. Copies are available for Commissioners and comments are invited prior to <br /> discussion at the next Public Safety Commission meeting. Commissioner Kroll stated the <br /> subcommittee tried to be clear about the role of the subcommittee. <br /> Commissioner Lamp thanked Commissioner Kroll for all her work on the draft protocol. <br /> B. Allina Medical <br /> Mr. Dave Matteson reported there have been a few issues with crime in the parking lot where <br /> their employees park with a few items being stolen from unlocked vehicles. Mounds View PD is <br /> helping with patrols and Allina will work with Unity security to help monitor the parking lots. <br /> The Lake Johanna base is working quite well and Mr. Matteson sees this change as a huge <br /> benefit for the City of New Brighton. <br /> Mr. Matteson will have stats for the first 6 months of the year at the next meeting. <br /> Mr. Matteson reported Allina has a new piece of equipment; it is an intrathoracic pressure <br /> regulator and is used on a person in cardiac arrest. This regulator creates 30 lbs. of negative <br /> pressure when doing CPR; it puts oxygen in and pulls blood into the heart. They have gotten <br /> heartbeats back on all 4 patients it has been used on with good results; and it has been used for <br /> only 2 weeks. <br />
