At this time,the City of New Brighton only offers health insurance coverage to full-time <br /> employees(scheduled to work 40 or more hours per work) and City Councilmembers. <br /> City Councilmembers are currently eligible to participate in the$0 Co-Pay Plan and the <br /> $40.00 Co-Pay Plan. The City of New Brighton currently covers 100%of the health <br /> insurance premium expense for Councilmembers that elect to receive single health <br /> insurance coverage through the City. If a councilmember elects to receive single+1 or <br /> family coverage, the councilmember is responsible for paying the difference between <br /> single coverage and the single+1 or family insurance premium rates. <br /> For City of New Brighton employees that participate in the High Deductible Health <br /> Plan/Health Savings Accounts, the City of New Brighton currently contributes $600.00 <br /> (single coverage) and $1,200.00 (single+1 and family coverage) toward the employees <br /> annual deducible. The City of New Brighton uses the annual contribution as an incentive <br /> for employees to switch to a health insurance plan with a lower premium and for <br /> employees to be more consumer conscious when they are receiving medical care and <br /> services. <br /> The following is an overview of the City's monthly and annual contribution expenditures <br /> for health insurance coverage provided to City of New Brighton full-time staff members, <br /> councilmembers, and employees that are retired due to a work related disability.
