Chair Frischman said that we need to look through history, current
needs and issues and when we feel confident, make a
recommendation.
VIII. Trails, Bike and Walk-ways
Chair Frischman commented that this discussion was covered tonight with our
recommendations above.
IX. Announcements
A. Council Report — Council Member Burg (sitting in for Jacobsen)
• The Council has talked about going paperless and the Council has
now received iPads. Staff worked hard at deciding which piece of
technology would work best for the Council. They just started using
the iPads the first of the year.
• The Council and Team Management Leaders had a team building
meeting the second week of January and worked through getting a
work plan for the year.
• We talked with Pulte homes and also had discussion about API
expanding. The View decided in October not to add any more
apartments. These are all quality projects but Council needs to
decide if each one will help meet the financial goals necessary for
The New Brighton Exchange.
• The Neighborhood meetings are coming up the next four
Thursdays. Totem Pole is the first meeting. It is the same program
at each neighborhood center. There is an update on The New
Brighton Exchange planned and a question and answer session.
Chair Frischman said that attending a meeting that is not in your
neighborhood is a good way to hear concerns, comments,
and/or positive feedback from residents in another part of the
City. It is a great learning opportunity.
• Council has not yet made any decisions on Commission Liaisons.
That will happen in April.
• Council is taking Commission applications right now and making
decision in March.
B. Chair Updates
Chair Frischman encouraged anyone interested in being on the Parks,
Recreation and Environmental Commission, or any other commission in
the City, to apply now.
C. Commission Reports on Parks
Lundberg: Driftwood/Hansen
Nothing on Driftwood. She is a runner and is very pleased with how
quickly the sidewalks were cleared at Hansen Park. There is a stretch
between the bridge and the building that is very icy. Parks Superintendent
Wolla will let Public Works know.
4
