specific work rules to ensure safety needs are being met and that they are in <br /> compliance with current laws and regulations. <br /> D. The City is committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment for all <br /> of its employees. It is the responsibility of each employee to: <br /> • Understand and follow all rules and safety standards, <br /> • Make sure that they are familiar with the safe and proper use of any vehicle, <br /> tool, or piece of equipment before it is used, and <br /> • Operate all tools and equipment in a safe and careful manner. <br /> Employees are encouraged to detect and report to their supervisors any <br /> hazardous conditions or unsafe practices in their work areas. Employees must <br /> also report all accidents and injuries to their supervisor immediately. Failure to <br /> make timely reports may jeopardize benefits should the injury later prove to be <br /> serious. <br /> E. The Finance Director or designee will maintain all injury and accident forms (e.g. <br /> first Report of Injury, Employee Accident Report, Notice of Claim) and administer <br /> claims to the City's insurance programs. <br /> 4.3 Reporting and Investigating Work Place Accidents and Injuries <br /> Vehicle/Equipment <br /> All employees involved in a vehicle accident should stop immodiatoly. Tho policy <br /> should bo called and first aid arranged for anyone who is injured. Vehicles should not <br /> be moved until the police arrive. A description of the circumstances (such as date, <br /> stances causing the accident, <br /> testing requirements in the event of an accident. Employee's that operate a DOT <br /> , <br /> and comploto and submit an "Employee Accident Report" to the Finance Department. <br /> All employees involved in a vehicle or equipment accident must stop immediately. If <br /> possible, the employee should move the vehicle to the side of the road and in a safe <br /> location. At a minimum, it shall be the policy of the City to require a police investigation <br /> of any accident that involves one or more of the following situations: <br /> • If the accidents occurs on a public roadway; <br /> • If the accident involves an injury or death; <br /> • If the projected value of the accident damage is in excess of$1,000. <br />
