He discussed the request in detail with the Council noting the desired outcomes of the proposed
Resolution were to establish an understanding between the Council and the Fire Relief Board and fire fighters
on how financial support from the City shall be received annually; to memorialize the terms of the
understanding in a Resolution format so both parties understand the terms of any financial support from the
City, to establish an understanding regarding future increases to annual benefits of the fire fighters; and to
provide for a formal establishment of understanding between the City Council and the Fire Fighters so that if
adjustments need to be made to this arrangement in the firture, there is an established process for those
changes. He explained the benefits the community received from the Fire Division noting these individuals
were trained to the same level as full -time fire fighters. The current annual benefit paid to the paid/on-call fire
fighters was $5,800 per year.
