Discussion shifted to stakeholder input. <br />Lotter discussed the ways in which he was working to improve communication between staff and the Council. <br />He explained how communication means were shifting to take advantage of technology. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen stated the calls to City Hall and the Community Center could be counted. <br />Councilmember Bauman discussed the level of calls and emails she received from residents. <br />Councilmember Strub questioned if the City had the right people to promote community engagement to get the <br />results the Council wanted. <br />Mayor Jacobsen stated the City may benefit from having a better understanding on how to market the City and <br />to engage the citizens more readily, given the recent technological advancements while also better <br />understanding how residents are using technology. <br />Councilmember Bauman did not believe that it was worth hiring additional personnel to monitor this issue. <br />She suggested that a question be placed on a future survey to see if residents were interested in having more <br />involvement in the City. <br />Councilmember Strub was in favor of the Council taking a closer look at housing and commercial <br />corridors /retail in New Brighton and increasing dialogue with residents regarding these topics. <br />Councilmember Burg was in favor of holding joint meetings with the City's various commissions and <br />committees to address topics of interest. <br />Lotter encouraged the Council to attend the EDC meeting next Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. It was noted an <br />employee survey would be completed before year end. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen thanked Craig and staff for reviewing this metric in detail with the Council. <br />Worksession adjourned at 7:05 pm <br />
