Correspondence
None
V. Old Business
a. Sunny Square Park Neighborhood Petition
It should be noted that the meeting did not record; therefore minutes are in a
shortened format.
Director Breuer gave a brief history on this item. A petition was received on
4/12/14. The petition was sent to council on 5/13/14 and Council sent it to
PREC and asked the commission to report back to the City Council, at a
future date, their findings and recommendations pertaining to the submitted
petition.
In part, the petition states its support of Sunny Square to be flooded again
and the rink / boards not be taken down the summer of 2014. The cover
memo, with the signers of the petition, states there is support and
declarations from many people willing to help out with maintenance of boards,
flooding the rink and supervision opportunities if necessary.
Resident Mr. Jim Kvaal was in attendance to represent the petition and
petitioners. They would like to be able to use Sunny Square hockey rink this
winter. He stated Adam Smith is the high school hockey coach and Mr. Smith
has 10 -15 players who will volunteer to help. High school players need
volunteer hours. Mr. Kvaal did not feel they needed the lights.
