/ Not Approved
• The amendment effective date is contingent on approval of the Metropolitan Council.
Commissioner Banker questioned if Chapter 8 had clear roadway definitions. City Planner Gundlach explained the
definitions were included in a different section of the Comprehensive Plan and could be provided to the Commission or
found on the City's website.
Commissioner Banker asked if three bridges scheduled for reconstruction already had a 10-foot trail. City Planner
Gundlach stated these bridges did not have a designated trail at this time. She noted three bridges were deficient at this
time and needed a higher level of service for both vehicles and pedestrians.
Commissioner McPherson stated bridge trails would greatly improve the safety for pedestrians crossing in these locations.
City Planner Gundlach commented the bridge crossings were not guaranteed, but the City wanted to be proactive in
expressing the needs of the City.
Chair Howard inquired if there were any impacts on the City based on the system statements from the Metropolitan
Council. City Planner Gundlach explained the actual changes that would affect New Brighton were minimal. The
majority of the transportation revisions addressed managed driving lanes in the region, which includes carpool and pay
lanes.
Motion by Commissioner McPherson, seconded by Commissioner Shardlow to close the Public Hearing.
Approved 6-0.
Motion by Commissioner Danger, seconded by Commissioner Banker, to approve staff recommendation.
Approved 6-0.
Announcements:
City Planner Gundlach provided the Commission with an update on Bell Pole. She explained that dust mitigation was
being investigated further by the company. Thus far,the best solution has been the use of their water truck. Another item
of concern was odor from the outdoor storage yard. The company has researched the concern further and does not feel
their product stored outdoors is emitting discernable odors. She noted the company has been very cooperative with the
City.
Adjournment:
Motion by Commissioner Matkaiti, seconded by Commissioner Shardlow,to adjourn the meeting.
6 Ayes, 0 Nays,Motion carried.
Meeting adjourned at 7:24 PM
2
