Councilmember Burg suggested that the waterway setbacks be addressed at a future Council worksession <br />meeting, as this would require additional discussion. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen was in favor of the City Attorney reviewing the language in order to draft some <br />language that would address setbacks from buildings /principle structures. Code Enforcement Officer Hatch <br />explained that five feet was the recommendation of the task force, but this could be adjusted to reduce the <br />potential for complaints. <br />Acting City Manager Jacobson suggested that the setbacks be consistent with the remainder of City Code for <br />code enforcement purposes. <br />Mayor Jacobsen recommended that coops not be allowed to be placed too close to neighboring structures. <br />Councilmember Bauman asked if a minimum setback from neighboring structures could be written into the <br />code. Gundlach reported that an either /or statement could be written into Code. The Council supported this <br />recommendation. <br />Councilmember Bauman questioned how large of a chicken coop could be on a residential property. Gundlach <br />reported that the coops would be treated like an accessory structure and residents would have to comply with <br />the 30% structure coverage and 50% hard surface requirements within City Code. <br />Councilmember Burg inquired if accessory structures had to be allowed in rear yards. Gundlach stated this <br />was the case. <br />Councilmember Bauman stated she would not support the Code as is with the proposed number of fowl. She <br />discussed Shoreview's code and noted that only four fowl were allowed on two -acre lots. She believed that <br />nine fowl were excessive on New Brighton sized residential lots. She commented that Blaine did not allow <br />any fowl. <br />Councilmember Strub and Councilmember Burg supported a 25 -foot setback from property lines. <br />Gundlach questioned if the Council was ready to move forward with the Ordinance or if further discussion was <br />required. The Council was in favor of holding another worksession meeting to discuss the Ordinance Urban <br />Farming Ordinance. <br />Discussion of Commission Applicants <br />Haarstad discussed the interviews the Council conducted at their March 10th worksession meeting. She <br />believed that the Council had a great list of candidates to serve on its various committees and commissions. <br />Councilmember Bauman suggested that the applicants for the Public Safety Commission be appointed, as there <br />were three candidates and three openings. <br />The Council supported this recommendation. <br />! Councilmember Jacobsen noted that the Civil Service Commission had two candidates and two openings. He <br />suggested that both be appointed. <br />The Council supported this recommendation. <br />
